A gift from the City of Bremen to its sister city Haifa
The fairy tale of the Bremen Town Musicians holds a special personal significance for me as an artist—and as someone who began a new chapter of life in Bremen. The story of friendship, courage, and the decision to shape one’s own destiny independently represents a powerful narrative that has influenced my artistic work in recent years. In the context of my work, the Town Musicians serve as a symbolic representation of transformation, new beginnings, and cultural connection. Their presence in my work expresses a deep engagement with questions of belonging, migration, and integration. The sculpture Music Among Friends is understood as a stylized interpretation of the Bremen Town Musicians, depicted in a dynamic arrangement with musical instruments. The composition emphasizes movement, rhythm, and harmony, thus alluding to music as a universal language and a connecting element between cultures and communities. As an integration project, this work is simultaneously a personal artistic statement and a contribution to intercultural understanding. The placement of the sculpture at the Auditorium Square in Haifa—a vibrant, open, and culturally significant location—underlines the symbolic gesture of friendship between the partner cities Bremen and Haifa. It is a special honor for me that this work was presented as an official gift from the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen to the city of Haifa. My sincere thanks go to the Bremen Parliament for their trust and support in realizing this project.
